Cagey House - B for Breakfast

Artist: Cagey House
Title: B for Breakfast
Cat#: BP055
Date of release: 20 Mar, 2010
Styles: Abstract, Modern Classical, IDM
Format: File, MP3, 320k bps

Release notes:

Cagey House creates ethereal and energetic instrumental music. Cagey House music has been featured on over one hundred alternative-oriented music podcasts, and also used as background, bumper, and theme music on many other non-music-oriented shows. Have had a couple of net-releases through Nishi, Umor-rex, Dog Eared, bumpfoot, and a few other netlabels.

B for Breakfast is Cagey House's latest production. The album has varied between being kind of pop/rock-ish and instrumental experiments. All the tracks focused on melody and rhythm, but with lots of unexpected twists and turns, and with some dada-style vocal samples mutually interacting.

Kirill Kara-Banchuk Star T

Another full-length LP released by Mixgalaxy Records acquaints the listeners with one very interesting author, who works both with music and graphical art. Kirill Kara-Banchuk belongs to Russian idm flow. Being an expert in sound abstractions and experiments, as well as a talented minimalist artist he makes some kind of synthesis of inner images difficult for perception and interpretation, transferring them into sounds and sharing a part of his rich and individual inward with listeners. Moods, atmosphere, tracks order and the album design are one big picture, resembling a road or ascend from darker deeps into the light, what was represented in the booklet.Music is accompanied by one video clip, visually demonstrating ideas giving start to the entire album. Dismal, black and white pictures, lonesome figures, pressing walls and overall estrangement perfectly illustrate the first track and prepare the listener for sinking into this very powerful and oppressive atmosphere, which weighs upon him in the first half of an album and changes into more comfortable and warmer sound environment as the release moves towards the end. Strong conception and solid realization provides striking impression on the lovers of genres such as idm, experimental and others of that kind.

Mundtot - Endzeit EP

With their EP "Endzeit" a few rebellious young musicians, calling themselves 'mundtot' - present a debut that really shows some of the old hands in the gothic scene what's what.

That the roots of the Munich-based trio comes from post-punk and new wave is really unmistakable. Likewise, they mix elegiac wavy guitars with synthpop-hooks and aggressive punk-rhythms with pounding industrial elements.

In which they are indifferent building on the roots of a music - that hardly anyone knows today - expanding this with modern Industrial-Gothrock, they create an exciting, raw, uncut and rebellious music.

The vocals move smart on the line between accusatory sadness and aggressive rebellion.

For 'mundtot' are mainly corporate and time-critical. They have something to say.

Their anger means power, energy and creativity. In a time where some people have long since resigned or just use their aggression to scare little girls, 'mundtot' brings back some rebellious fresh air into the scene. Perhaps a privilege of youth? In any case, damn catchy and awesome.

Roberto Maldoror Manfredini - La Prima Sega di Mishima

Contemporary experimental written and sound artist <a href="http://archeodada.altervista.org/">Roberto Maldoror Manfredini</a> contacted us trying to re-release under our netlabel some of his previously limited edition creations put out through a now defunct local label. This album was one of the first we listened to and imediatly adored, both for it's concept and the sounds derived from it, it's a love tribute to the great Yukio Mishima, even if the title it's kind of... satyrical (the translation could be "Mishima's first rat's fuck", based on the book "Confession of a mask", where he describes his first masturbation on the image of Saint Sebastian).

Talemore - Searching For Life

With this first full-length album released by Mixgalaxy Records dark-ambient composer Stanislav Tretyakov, who works under an alias of Talemore introduces himself to the listeners of our label. As you may have already figured, you are about to be moved to the obscure side of ambient music. This record comprehends a rich spectre of those elements that formed the genre: dismal drones and dreary pads building up a strong atmosphere, some field recordings, some anthropogenic sound effects deliver deeper immersion. Tracks vary from Eastern flavored solemn compositions with chanting voices, woodwinds and ethnic percussion to mysterious futuristic soundscapes. Overall it is a very strong music set for those enjoying the genre or interested in dark side of atmospheric-driven music.

Our "Winter Tales" will give you a magic atmosphere, filling any place they're being played at with viscous drones of ambient, sombre idm beats and soft chillout with folk-pop touched by traditional Russian music, making it suitable for nearly any situation whether it's being a Christmas holiday party or just a steady evening spent alone. The compilation explores each possible human emotion associated with this chill season being supported on this side by some guest appearances featuring project Sinestesia which hardly requires any detailed introduction to Russian electronic music arena since they have performed on numerous EDM festivals and been around for quite a while now.Once again the artwork was produced by Gerdes who already became some sort of our staff artist since his simple pencil-drawn covers gradually help forming the face of the label. In addition, Gerdes also contributed his track Astel to "Winter Tales" and made his musical debut on our label. Few regularies appear alongside of new artists and new sounds, so let yourself be carried away by this rich and highly enjoyable music flow. Dive in!

080 - The Silent Ballet - Volume 14

The Silent Ballet: Volume 14

Fall 2009 - Winter 2010

As is becoming tradition around these parts, Volume 14 and 15 will be released in close proximity to one another. Each compilation continues the website's commitment to spotlighting emerging musicians, featuring upcoming releases, and providing rare tracks from our favorite artists to our readers. Our focus is always on the international level, and we'll never tire of searching for the next best thing in the most unusual of places. Our goal of a seven continent split is almost within our grasp, we're just awaiting news of the first penguin-led post-rock group. We're also committed to our goal of providing quality music in a respectable format without charge. As one of life's greatest pleasures, music should be freely available to all and resistant to commodification. As the Lost Children Netlabel looks ready to close in on its one hundredth release in 2010, we at The Silent Ballet are thankful that the label has stuck to its goals and continues to provide excellent music free of charge. Although it may seem like the music industry gets ragged on a lot, if there were more labels like Lost Children around, we think that the music climate would be a much more agreeable place for musicians.A big thanks goes out to all the artists and labels who made this project possible.

Various Artists - Greatest It

Over the last decade, the free music scene has brought out numerous big names. Thanks to them the fact that there's an endless amount of incredibly "good" music available for free on the internet has become obvious to everybody. But of course there's also an even greater amount of incredibly shite music out there...

The good stuff isn't always easiest to find, and most users don't have time to browse through every artist's discography in order to discover the gems among their droppings.

Netlabels experience some kind of Indian summer, receiving a lot of attention as if they were all new. They retrieve relevance as a source for presenting the hot. Berlin held a Netaudio Festival last year. New York's WFMU has created the Free Music Archive, "a social music website built around a curated library of free, legal audio." Fuck me sideways, the scene is a scene again!

"Greatest It" features tracks from Up it up, Ego Twister, Peppermill, Proot, Cock Rock Disco, and WM Recordings.

Valkaama - music audioscapist

<b>Story</b>
Lasse has travelled the world for years. His heart knows no home except one that a prophecy from his childhood revealed to him: Valkaama, a mysterious place in northern Finland. Lasse always longed to settle there one day, along with Ari, a good friend bound to a wheelchair.
Recently Lasse has been living with Runa, a privileged girl who has looked upon Lasse only as a friend. But as he suddenly leaves... (<a href="http://www.legaltorrents.com/torrents/979-valkaama---music-michael-georgi">Read on...</a>)

<b>Music</b>
At the moment there are 2 different music scores for Valkaama. The tracks of these scores can be <a href="http://www.valkaama.com/index.php?page=music&l=en">listened to and downloaded here</a>. This music score by audioscapist (Patrick Fitzsimons) mixes classical orchestration with a wide range of other sounds to support the action in the hope-inspired journey depicted in this poetic film. By selective placement of the music he allows the actors' strengths to shine through and gives the scenes the time and space to envelop you in the promise of Valkaama.

Cubic - Thud EP

Being one of the founders of Mixgalaxy Records, Cubic is also one of it's most interesting and talented artists. His music is always full of energy and expression and any compilation barely can make it without his contribution. Original style has guaranteed him a place of the first author to release his own Extended Play on Mixgalaxy Records. It turned out to be 23 minutes of frolic drum'n'bass, evil darkstep and breaks, including one collaboration with another wicked artist from our label - TContinental, so it's sure not gonna get boring.

PURPLE FOG SIDE - Project-Rentgen

Netlabel Synthematik is proud to present the result of a unique and brave experiment under the code name "PROJECT:RENTGEN" conducted by one of Russia's oldest and renowned gothic electro/darkwave bands PURPLE FOG SIDE (PFS).The idea of the experiment is quite simple: to produce an album in a real-time mode with each song created and recorded from scratch within as short as two days. The countdown started on September 21, 2009 and lasted till October 15, 2009. During the time of the experiment, the band kept on uploading a brand new track every two days for everyone to listen to. Every PFS fan could get involved into this unusual experience via interaction with the band in blogs and social networks.Pushed to the very limits of mental, emotional, physical and creative capabilities, PFS managed to create not just an album, but work that can be undoubtedly regarded as their best to date. 10 brand new songs fully convey the band's diverse musical spectrum, from sensual darkwave ballads to hard-hitting electro gothic tracks. Now as the experiment is over, all the tracks have undergone remixing and mastering, which revealed a lot of new nuances to the music. The final version of "PROJECT:RENTGEN" additionally features a Russian version of "My Secret Friend" and three remixes produced by fellow musicians of Alpha Point, X-ti and Elektronnoe Oblako.Keeping to the spirit of experiment, PFS have decided to team up with Synthematik in order to make "PROJECT:RENTGEN" available for everyone as a free download.

KOSMODROMM - KOSMODROMM 1.0 EP

Netlabel Synthematik presents "KOSMODROMM 1.0" EP by a darkly captivating synthpop/darkwave project KOSMODROMM from Belarus. The project was formed in 2008 by Eiden Dark (vocal, lyrics, music) and D-Emsi (programming, arrangements). Since 2010 KOSMODROMM turns into a one-man project run by Eiden Dark with the assistance of session musicians on stage and in the studio, while D-Emsi continues to help the project as a sound producer.KOSMODROMM's music is a combination of electronic beats, melodic analog synths and charming darkwave atmosphere. Not the least important is the vocals delivered by Eiden Dark. His soft, gentle baritone evokes the names of the iconic Russian singers from the 60s-70s of the XXth century. Such a peculiar combination of lyrical vocals and dark synth electronics makes KOSMODROMM to stand out as one of the most original acts in the post soviet dark scene today."KOSMODROMM 1.0" EP consits of the songs from the singles "Stalker" and "Pustoj Gorod" selfreleased by the band in 2009. These songs received new professional mastering. In addition, it features special remixes by ALIEN2064 and Fractal Decay. The present EP serves as a teaser of the forthcoming full-length album with the new sound and new songs to be released later in 2010.

Net-label MixGalaxy Records gladly presents a compilation of tracks, composed by users of MixGalaxy Forum, one for those who like to wonder and ready for music adventures. The most bright and diverse works were picked for it, from minimalistic ambient, dark psy and cheerful drum'n'bass to sprightly chiptune, metalcore and even jazz. Many of represented authors had repeatedly released their music on labels such as Fektive, Kahvi, JOOF, Phunkfiction etc. Sparing meaningless words, this is a pretty interesting and contradictory compilation worthy of attention of the most versed music listeners, so it's just a must-try. Sit back, relax and enjoy, and bright expressions to everyone!

phoke62 _ Sklandu rausi _ by v.a.

Sklandu rausi

In easy relaxation mode we stroll into the temple of review, looking back into 2009, seeing and interpreting the signs, that will direct us into the future, opening many diverse musical rooms.

A run into europeans winter's breeze let's us try to bring the december mood to a spring-like reunion full of kisses. Still hidden we are happy about an upcoming phonocake release by Modul, while we can already listen one of the tracks here.

As a debut we can find tracks by diverse local heroes, e.g. Hofuku Sochi, who could be known from his netrelease at Camomille, called the lost tapes. Or welcome revived Sandrow Mitzschke, who could be better known in Dresden as Soren Matschiste. And besides this a smooth nice track by Insect O., which opens the hope for a nice upcoming spring time. Soren and Insect O. live the Dresden based record label ETUI, which is successfull especially in the field of Deep Techno House.

Also with us are friends from Tallinn, Barcelona, Krasnodar, Montevideo und Florence again. And there are two new projekt names to be found: Captain Snorehead and One Day In Metropia, while the last one could also be known from live sets in the Altes Wettburo or Schleife 9, one location, which was voted in local electronic life event magazine (www.banq.de) on position one of the best locations in 2009, but sadly is no more active in 2010.

Mezzamo - Aloneluna

Netlabel Synthematik is excited to present the official release of the Aloneluna album from Mezzamo, one of the most artistic groups in Russia. Formed in 2006, Mezzamo has to date released a Russian-language album 'Mnogotochie' and an English-language single 'Everything You', which received lots of positive reaction worldwide. The band was named the best newcomer of the international indie festival Stereoleto 2009 and nominated for the Undeground Act 2009 award. Band's video clips full of vivid emotional imagery can be seen on various Russian alternative TV channels. Mezzamo seamlessly combines all the great things from the 80s new wave era with a stylish indie pop extravagance of the 90s. With Shura Zhuravleva's gentle and compelling voice weaving through the music, Mezzamo is doubtlessly the best antidote against the grey indifference of the outer world. It's rather difficult to point out the apparent parallels for those who like getting things shelved, but placing Mezzamo somewhere between Blondie, Annie Lennox and Saint Etienne might be a good idea. The album 'Aloneluna', previously available as a demo, has been thoroughly remixed and remastered. The official birth date of the album has been symbolically set to January 7th (the Russian Christmas). Aloneluna brings you 11 songs filled with sparkling melodies, compelling vocals and sincere emotions alongside with an excellent exclusive mix from Alpha Point adding some lively and exciting vibe to your everyday routine!

Mahi Bukimi - The Eclipse of Planet's Beauty

This album is a modest try of returning the spirit of Renaissance into the present age. 'The Eclipse of Planet's Beauty' is about all of us - about extinction of nature and going deeper and deeper into the virtual world, about cruel wars and modern philosophy, humanism in nowadays perception and nuclear sunsets, ancient mythologies and cities of the future - the things we are facing often feeling strange or unanswered, but the things we are rushing toward like into the first summer rain. This artwork is some kind of reply to this so fast changing world, or maybe to our so morphing way of life. Sometimes the ages of past are much more closer than they appear and the delicate sculptures are much more alive than it may seem. The same as heavenly bodies change their orbits, slowly but insuperable, civilizations are moving round, some of them still afraid of themselves. It's like seeing the moon in the sky by day through the gentle resistance of crystal ice, like watching the stars in the antique observatory lying in deep grass. It's like a glass sphere in the storm, like an organ prelude passing through the waves of biosphere. Let the music describe all this feelings the best.

Gorgeous washes of ambient sound and experimental pop soundings from a lonely Salopian and his arsenal of synths/guitars.A heart stoppingly beautiful Proustian evocation of the tranquility of the countryside: of following water, long childhood walks and glorious sunlight through fading trees.

Talk Less, Say More - So, How Does It Feel To Be Educated [flac]

Double album, 24 tracks in total:Part 1 - Survival Strategies For The Age Of Discontinuity (Tracks 1-11) Part 2 - We Are The Market Makers. (Tracks 12-24). Not one of the tracks goes beyond two minutes, yet each is rammed full of so many sharp ideas that it shames much longer tracks into whimpering submission. As a collection it runs the gamut of mostly electronically based sounds, think Mike Patton's Fantomas via a overheated laptop: clattering breakcore, thundering gabba tantrums, intricate glitch, Captain Beefheart punching Venetian Snares odd-pop, raw ambience, chuckle-hop, stock-market-core, Zorn inspired jazzgasms, techno grind...well smart.Artwork designed by Wayne Pashley.

EL Heath - Winter Soundtrack [flac]

A melancholic exploration of a long, dark cold winter spent in the isolated countryside - a countryside which takes on something of a malignant presence following its more positive influence on previous Heath releases. These tunes are recognisably the work of EL Heath, but are sparser than his previous releases - at times approaching an almost unbearable melancholy. The sounds are often onomatopoeic: a martenot sweep like a cutting wind, pianos like a crisp frost. But as anyone reading the above would realise, it's as much a psychological as it is seasonal (though the two are clearly inextricably linked). Concerto yearns, Arvo Part's "light passing through glass" distilled. Electric Storm creeps with brooding darkness. Chords is a gorgeous sigh. Inertia's unsettling absences are the perfect soundtrack to dark times. It could be viewed, perhaps, as a wintry response to Virginia Astley's 'From Gardens Where We Feel Secure' (an album Heath adores) and the original intention was for the album to be released in the middle of this winter. And though late, the very fact we're able to release this album is something of a personal triumph for Heath: a perilous hard drive, lack of desire and feelings of wintry discontent at times conspiring to halt progress.
